On a whim, I stopped by KB today, which I barely do anymore as they can be rather hit or miss when it comes to new figures. The first thing I see is the big display of the new AvP and Conan figs..so I naturally scamper over to check it out.

I picked up Belit and the Fire Dragon. They didn't have Svadun, who I also want to get, but that's probably just as well..the Belit I got is the censored panties version. I don't mind the panties, but I want the braless Svadun, so I'll hold out till Suncoast gets them in.

The Fire Dragon is even smaller than I thought it'd be. From pics I've seen, I knew it would be small, but damn..this thing is like mini dragon. Something I find amusing are the stories on the inserts for the dragon and Belit..

    from Belit's:

"a Son of Set, a massive snake godling known as the Fire Dragon"

    and from the dragon's:

"this child of Set, this Fire Dragon, has grown to immense size".

Now, I realize that if this thing actually existed, it'd be pretty damned intimidating to come face to face with a snake/dragon that's as big as you are, and is in possession of some pretty wicked fangs and claws. All the same, when I hear "massive", and "immense", I expect something terribly big that towers over people. Something so big that if you'd piss yourself if it so much as flicked an eyelid at you. Besides, it's a freakin *dragon*..it should be able to bite Belit in half before she even knows what's coming.
I mean, the anacondas in that dumbass movie that's coming out are bigger than this thing.

Don't get me wrong, the sculpt is cool, the paint job is excellent, and I really do like this figure..I just had hopes that it would be Big Evil Dragon of Doom...not "I'm a massive dragon, yet my wrists are skinnier than the wrists of this chick that's gonna kill me!"

Well, it is immense and massive for a snake. Nobody said it was immense relative to humans.

    Wink

From my review of the set a few days back, though overall I do love the set.
    B. The Fire Dragon has a big enough base
and is a terrific figure, but a bit small. Belit looks quite the bully bitch going after wee poor baby dragon with that big scythe. Call the SPCA!!! nope

I didn't buy the dragon but it is a great sculpt and the ones I saw had nice paint apps. But I agree - the size seems to make it out of place. Seems like it would have been better as a deleuxe box set to me.

I think they were testing the water with the Conan line. That would explain the lack of a boxed set or a CC piece.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah..I'm hoping there will be a box set or CC piece with Conan 2. I like this line because it's like a dark ages line. I've put Belit and the Dragon with the Viking Age figures, and they fit in perfectly.
